BYD has announced the release of the 2025 model of the SEAL in China, a vehicle likely to make its way to the Thai market soon. This new iteration features significant upgrades in power, intelligent driving systems, and exterior design enhancements, including the addition of dual-LiDAR sensors on the roof.
Improved Intelligent Driving with Dual-LiDAR
The dual-LiDAR system atop the 2025 BYD SEAL is not just for aesthetics; it enhances the reliability of autonomous driving and road safety. The sensors are capable of detecting irregularities on the road surface, enabling the Disus-C adaptive chassis system to automatically adjust suspension stiffness. This innovation reduces vibrations and improves overall ride comfort for passengers.
Performance Upgrades: Speed and Charging Efficiency
The 2025 BYD SEAL is built on the e 3.0 Evo platform with an advanced 800V high-voltage electric system. This allows for significantly faster charging times, taking the battery from 10% to 80% in just 25 minutes at compatible high-power charging stations.
The motor control system has been enhanced with SiC technology for greater energy efficiency. The motor’s rotational speed has increased to 23,000 RPM, pushing the top speed of the SEAL to an impressive 240 km/h. While the top variant retains its 390kW power output, 690Nm of torque, and 0–100 km/h acceleration of 3.8 seconds, the higher motor speed ensures smoother performance at higher speeds.
Current Pricing and Promotions in Thailand
The existing BYD SEAL models in Thailand are currently being offered at promotional prices:
- Dynamic RWD: Reduced from 1,325,000 THB to 1,199,000 THB.
- Premium RWD: Reduced from 1,449,000 THB to 1,399,000 THB.
- Performance AWD: Retains its price of 1,599,000 THB.
Facing the Competition
BYD appears to be responding to fierce competition from Tesla, particularly the Model 3, by adjusting its pricing strategy. The current promotional discounts may also serve as a preparatory move to clear stock before introducing the 2025 SEAL.
The arrival of the 2025 SEAL, with its cutting-edge features and improved performance, will undoubtedly intensify the rivalry between BYD and Tesla. Whether it can outshine the Model 3 remains to be seen. Enthusiasts and potential buyers in Thailand will eagerly await the launch of the SEAL 2025 to determine its competitive edge in the EV market.
